VALKYRIES, otherwise known as 'Chooser of the Slai VALKYRIES, otherwise known as 'Chooser of the Slain', were commonly known to transport fallen warriors from the battlefield to Odin in Valhalla. However, Valhalla wasn't the only destination of the winged maidens. Half of the slain was sent to Folkvangr, the field of warriors, and the domain of Freyja. In more obscure lore, it is said that prior to battle, Valkyries would sit around a loom weaving the fate of the warriors using intestines for their thread, severed heads for weights, and swords and arrows for beaters, all the while chanting their intentions.
